The Last Seen value indicates the most recent successful communication moment between a WelcomeTV Player and the WelcomeTV platform.
This information helps monitor connectivity and identify players that may be offline or experiencing network issues.
Understanding Last Seen #
Examples:
- A few seconds ago = recently active
- Several minutes ago = possibly offline
- Several hours ago = likely disconnected
The more recent the timestamp, the more recently the player successfully communicated with the system.
Why Last Seen Is Useful #
The Last Seen value helps identify:
- Connectivity problems
- Powered-off players
- Internet outages
- Router or WiFi issues
- Devices that may require troubleshooting
A slightly delayed Last Seen timestamp is not always a problem.
Temporary network interruptions happen occasionally in real hospitality environments.
Offline Players May Still Be Playing Content #
WelcomeTV Players use local caching to improve playback reliability.
This means a player may still continue displaying content even if the Last Seen timestamp becomes older temporarily.
Once connectivity returns, the player usually reconnects and updates automatically.
When to Investigate #
It may be worth checking the player if:
- The Last Seen value remains outdated for a long time
- The player repeatedly disconnects
- Content updates no longer appear
- The TV no longer displays expected playback
In many cases the issue is related to internet connectivity or power interruptions.
If a player has not checked in for three days, it is usually not meditating quietly behind the TV.
Something probably disconnected somewhere.
