After saving a slideshow, connected WelcomeTV Players will automatically synchronize the updated content over time.
This process happens automatically in the background and does not normally require manual intervention.
How Player Updates Work #
Once a slideshow is saved:
- Assigned players detect updated content
- Players retrieve new slideshow data
- Updated media is synchronized automatically
- Playback refreshes over time
The exact update timing may vary depending on connectivity and caching behavior.
Online Players #
Players connected to the internet will normally retrieve updates automatically.
This may include:
- New slides
- Updated media
- Playback order changes
- Duration updates
- Background music changes
Offline Players and Cached Content #
WelcomeTV Players use local caching to improve playback reliability.
If a player temporarily loses internet connectivity:
- Existing content may continue playing
- New updates may not appear immediately
- The player may continue using cached slideshow data
Once internet connectivity returns, the player will usually synchronize automatically again.
Players may not refresh instantly after saving changes.
Depending on synchronization timing and network conditions, updates can sometimes take several minutes to appear.
Why Caching Is Important #
Local caching helps improve:
- Playback stability
- Offline reliability
- Reduced bandwidth usage
- Faster local playback
This is especially useful in hospitality environments where internet quality may occasionally fluctuate.
